Read more about oliver

Wedge and Wildlife was founded by Oliver Prittie based on his knowledge of South Africa and his passion for golf. Oliver has been involved in Tourism for the last 10 years and has now traveled Southern and Eastern Africa extensively. Oliver saw a niche for a company to be able to provide a very high level of service in an industry where biggest is not always best. He recently organised a group of friends to travel overland in 4x4’s from Victoria Falls to Lalibela in Ethiopia – an epic, once-in-a-lifetime journey. Those who were lucky enough to be part of this experiences a perspective of Africa not available in any brochure – a time that none will forget but which has given them a new perspective on a continent that has so much to offer.

What is your top travel tip?

Pack light! After many years I am finally beginning to master this. Also, always try to take local currency, it does save you money in the end and it’s easier to buy small things like curio’s and to pay tips.

Your favourite spot on earth (so far)?

Tough question. Up there must be the Northern Mozambique Islands – Quirimbas Archipelago.

On the wishlist?

Lake Malawi and Patagonia.

What do you most enjoy about your job?

Discovering new places and people, the fact that there is always more to learn. And the travel perks!

What is your top travel tip?

Don't plan in too much detail, yes the basics need to be planned, but leave a lot of time for experiences to find you while you are traveling. The beauty of travelling is experiencing the people, places and culture and if you plan your days in too much detail you are likely to miss the best parts that just happen when you are free and open to them.

Your favorite spot on earth (so far)?

So far I think in terms of continent South America, country Argentina (close call with Peru!) and spot - I think possibly the lake district of Bariloche in the south.

On the wish list?

I haven't yet explored any of the East (Cambodia, Vietnam etc) and I am desperate to see more of Africa as well - even though that's where I come from, I haven't explored it nearly enough!

What do you most enjoy about your job?

I love the flexibility, both in time and in being able to bring new ideas and ways of working to the table, that the job allows. I also enjoy the broad scope of the work I do and wonderful businesses I work with, like Wedge and Wildlife!
