Day 1 to 4 – Johannesburg/Lusaka to Livingstone

This morning you arrive on your International flight at Lusaka or Johannesburg. Connect with the regional flight to Livingstone with Proflight. On arrival at Livingstone Airport you will be met and transferred via road and then a boat ride to The River Club.

The River Club is a tranquil oasis on the mighty Zambezi River and the perfect location for a visit to the renowned Victoria Falls - one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. A host of activities await young and old, on property as well as around the Victoria Falls. The eleven private and spacious suites are individually set within magnificent trees on the edge of the river, overlooking pods of hippos below. Let the history of Zambia and The River Club mesmerise you as you listen to renowned story-teller and owner of the camp, Peter Jones.

Day 4 to 7 – Livingstone to Lower Zambezi

Today you will be met and transferred by road to Livingstone Airport. Fly to Lusaka with Proflight. Then a light aircraft flight to Royal airstrip with Proflight. From here your safari begins with a 4x4 drive and boat arrival at Old Mondoro.

See the impact of conservation in the Lower Zambezi National Park with Grant Cumings, owner of Old Mondoro. The camp is situated in a remote and breath-taking location amongst Acacia trees close to islands and lagoons inhabited in large numbers by hippos, crocodiles and elephants. Old Mondoro appeals to those wanting a more rustic, ‘back to the bush’ experience, whilst maintaining all the comforts. The camp has just 4 open-sided chalets - simple in style, raised on stilts and shaped out of reeds, wood and canvas. King size beds feature, a private decking area with day beds, an outdoor shower and enormous splash tub, overlooking the Zambezi River.

Day 7 to 9 – Lower Zambezi to South Luangwa

Today you will be transferred in a safari vehicle to Jeki airstrip. Then you will fly in a light aircraft to Lukuzi airstrip with RASAIR. Upon arrival at Lukuzi you will be met and transferred in a game drive vehicle to Tafika Camp. Cycle with owner John Coppinger and dine with his family as they welcome guests to their home in the Luangwa.

Snuggled amongst giant Leadwood trees on the banks of the Luangwa River is Tafika Camp. Tafika is a relaxed and comfortable base from which to embark on walking safaris, day and night game drives or mountain bike trails. You will seldom see another vehicle in the area. A truly traditional camp and consistent wildlife, combined with some of the most experienced guides and trackers in Zambia, makes for an authentic safari. Only 6 thatched chalets overlook a wide picturesque bend of the Luangwa river, completed to a high standard out of locally-sourced reed and thatch.

Day 9 to 13 – Lower Zambezi walking trail

Today you will be transferred in a game drive vehicle to the trail start point. Walk to Chikoko Trails. Take a walk through the wilderness with a lifetime of guiding knowledge freely shared by guides such as Bryan Jackson. Situated in the South Luangwa National Park, along the west bank of the Luangwa, the Chikoko Trails Camps are comprised of two private camps: Chikoko Tree Camp and Crocodile River Camp. Walk from camp to camp following the animal footpaths. Discover the inner workings of the African bush as the expert guides share their experience and wilderness knowledge. The route follows the well-worn elephant and hippo trails, not to mention the original footsteps of David Livingstone, through the Luangwa Valley.

Day 13 to 15 – Walking Trail to Bushcamp Company in South Luangwa

This morning you’ll do your final bush walk to the departure point from here you will be met and transferred in a game drive vehicle to Lukuzi airstrip. Fly to Kapamba airstrip with RASAIR on a private charter. You will be met and transferred to one of the stunning Bushcamp Company camps.

Experience the South Luangwa on foot in the presence of world-class guides and Zambian-born Andy Hogg. The Bushcamp Company operates six exclusive bush camps in the remote south of the park. Set out from any of these secluded, intimate camps and you will be guaranteed an unrivalled wildlife experience in one of the last unspoilt wilderness regions of Africa – the very place where the African walking safari was pioneered. The newest camp in the collection, Zungulila is a charming camp that embodies the essence of old Africa and a bygone era, with breath-taking views onto the Kapamba river and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game.

Day 15 – South Luangwa to Lusaka and home
