There are also dolphin cruises and fishing tours for those seeking more leisurely pursuits. The Namib dunes surrounding Swakopmund are some of the highest in the world.

Day Six

Depart for your charter flight to Palmwag Rhino Camp.

Palmwag Rhino Camp is situated in the 1-million-acre private Palmwag Reserve in northwest Namibia, between Etosha and the Skeleton Coast - few places on the planet can offer this level of privacy and wilderness experience. A maximum of sixteen guests will have the rare pleasure of exploring this wild and remote area in the company of dedicated conservationists hosting them, together with local trackers. The camp has large “meru” tents with en-suite facilities including bucket showers with hot water on call.
There are large populations of Hartman’s mountain zebra, giraffe, Oryx, springbok and kudu. The predator population is the largest outside of the Etosha National Park with lions, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena. Bird life is prolific and diverse with most of Namibia’s endemics present. This concession supports a healthy population of desert adapted black rhino and elephants.

Over the course of your short stay in this enormous wilderness area your guide will expose to you the sheer magnificence of nature’s survival strategies through a walk, tracking and a game drive.

Day Eight

You will meet your guide and depart via the Palmwag concession to Hoanib Camp, a full day’s drive away.

With an early start, your journey continues by road towards the ephemeral river of the Hoanib Valley. Here, in an area seemingly parched and desolate, you enter one of Namibia’s richest desert wildlife areas. The rugged mountains and canyons of the Hoanib River provide a last refuge for the legendary desert elephant and the last free-roaming black rhino population on earth. It is estimated that  seventy-five per cent of Namibia’s endemic species inhabit this last bastion of the wilderness.

The Hoanib River Camp pitched close to the Hoanib River is a relaxed haven from which to explore this wild land on foot, or from the comfort of a safari vehicle. The camp is solar-powered and there are no generators or pumps running whilst guests are in camp. There are five guest walk-in hexagonal meru-style tents en suite with flush toilet and bucket shower bathrooms in a separate portion of the tent. Each tent is furnished with the necessary comforts and styled with burnt orange interiors, wood and brass, effectively recreating a sense of the early explorers. Here you can  enjoy game drives and walks in search of desert-adapted elephant and spectacular stark scenery.
