The Ultimate Bush & Beach Itinerary - Zambia & Mozambique


Day One

Friday Evening.  Depart London Heathrow
                         
Day Two

Arrive Lusaka where you will met and transferred to board your private charter to Livingstone and onward by road transfer to Tongabezi. On arrival at Tongabezi you will a trip down the great Zambezi by boat to Sindabezi island.

Sindabezi Island a private island of paradise nestled in the waters of the Zambezi which is the only African bush camp in the area that can be enjoyed exclusively as a private booking. It is ideal for families or a small party looking for complete privacy and is particularly good value. Taking the island privately ensures a private guide, boat and vehicle.. Here, in a haven of natural tranquillity, you will truly capture the sights and sounds of the African bush.

Sindabezi sleeps only ten people, in five open fronted thatched chalets dotted around the shores of the island. The island is very rustic in style with no electricity, wood fires and hot bucket showers on demand. The unique design of the chalets allows you to encounter up close all the sights and sounds of the river and the creatures that live in and around it, including regular visits from Horace, the resident hippo. At night, you will fall asleep in the glow of a hurricane lamp and be awoken by magnificent sunrises over the flood plains of the river. Trips to Victoria Falls, white water rafting and game drives are just some of the many activities that can be arranged for you.

3 nights Sindabezi  full board in twin/double rooms

Day Five

Depart Sindabezi by road transfer to Livingstone for your charter  flight to Royal where you will be met and transferred to Chiawa Camp by road and boat transfer.
           
Arrive at Chiawa Camp which is perfectly positioned in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park under a shady grove of mahogany trees with expansive views of the river offering warm hospitality and fantastic game opportunities.  Spacious tents are each set on their own elevated wooden platform under shade with panoramic views of the Zambezi.  Excellent cuisine where the chef takes immense pride preparing superb meals be it a scrumptious bush breakfast, a secluded picnic lunch or a romantic dinner under a full moon on a Zambezi river island. Whilst at Chiawa a variety of activities can be organised including a trip by boat and land vehicle to Old Mondoro area with game viewing and drinks on an island en-route.

Day Eight

Depart Chiwa Camp after an early morning game drive and bush breakfast to Royal airstrip for your private charter flight to Mfuwe where you will be met and transferred by road to Tena Tena.

This remote and small camp, the home of Robin Pope for nearly 30 years, lies within the National Park and enjoys a stunning location on a sweeping bend of the Luangwa River.It is characterized by groves, lagoons, open plains and subsequently a variety of game.  Mahogany trees shade the four main tents and one honeymoon suite, each with their own open air bathroom and veranda overlooking the waterhole. From the thatched dining room and bar, guests can watch the elephants, hippos and antelopes on the river banks The camp has delicious home cooking, a flexible approach to game viewing, with 3 guides looking after up to 10 guests ensuring a totally personalised safari.

Day Eleven 

Depart Tena Tena for  Mfuwe airstrip by road and your charter flight to Lusaka where you will connect  with your scheduled flight to Pemba in Mozambique. On arrival in Pemba you will be met and transferred to your charter flight to Vamizi island.

Vamizi Island Lodge,opened in December 2005, is located off the northern Mozambique coast not far from Mocimboa de Praiha.  The lodge comprises of 10 separate secluded beach houses, each with a king size four poster bed and view out to sea from the shades of the forest. Activities include snorkelling, kayaking, diving and deep sea fishing.  The complete remoteness offers a true break from the routine of modern life.

Day Fifteen

Depart by charter  to London via  Dar es Salaam and Nairobi

Day Sixteen

Arrive London Heathrow early in the morning.

Cost from £5750 per person based on 2 people sharing to include economy and charter flights, accommodation as described, meet and greet on arrival and transfers and any amendments to this itinerary.
