Cape Town & Surrounds - South Africa

Day One

Friday evening.   Depart London Heathrow.

Day Two

Arrive CapeTown mid-morning. You will be met and transferred to the Constantia Uitsig Hotel in time for lunch and the chance to relax by the swimming pool in the afternoon. This small beautiful country hotel in Constantia offers seclusion and particular attention paid to each individual guest. Your hire car will be delivered to you during the afternoon.

Accomodation consists of sixteen individually appointed garden rooms, all equipped with facilities to cater for your every need including delicious home made biscuits. The hotel has two excellent restaurants, La Colombe and The Constantia Uitsig.  Both are rated amongst South Africa’s finest, serving French and Italian Provencal cuisine with a distinct Cape flavour.

5 nights at Constantia Uitsig on a bed and breakfast basis

Day Three

After a relaxing breakfast, we will arrange for you to play at the delightful Clovelly Golf Club, set in a tranquil valley. This relatively short layout, built among sand dunes, rewards accuracy of the tee and provides players with scenic views of the False Bay coastline.

Although there are many superb holes to choose from, the best has to be the par 4 fourth, which provides challenges on all sides: out of bounds and a stream on the left and a green guarded by a water hazard.

Day Four

After breakfast drive due east in the direction of Hermanus to the infamous Arabella Golf Club, rated in the top 10 best in South Africa. This course provides a stimulating test for the best of golfers yet is also playable for the average hacker. Arabella has some splendid scenery as it is set alongside the enchanting Bot Lagoon.

The signature hole is the scenic par 3 seventeenth requiring a precise tee shot to a narrow green, though a mistake could end up on the beach. After golf you might like to make the short excursion into the seaside town of Hermanus for some  shopping and sightseeing.

Day Five

After a late breakfast a mid morning round at the nearby Steenberg golf course will be arranged. This championship course designed by Peter Matkovich, is an  exclusive course with a backdrop of vineyards, gardens, forests and mountains. Peaceful and un-crowded, the pristine tees and fairways offer a special year round experience.

Day Six

After breakfast it will be time to drive to the legendary Gary Player Erinvale golf course, host of the 1996 golf World Cup. The course boasts two distinctly different nines, one on the flat, while the more challenging back nine climbs up the lower slopes of the Helderberg Mountain, providing breathtaking views of the coast line.

The best test and signature hole is the par four seventeenth that swoops downhill. You play from an elevated tee, with tall pines flanking one side of the fairway, an out of bounds fence the other.

Day Seven

Depart the Constantia Uitsig Hotel in the morning and drive to the Winelands area, less than an hour away from CapeTown. Check in to the recently reopened Montrachalle Hotel perfectly located to overlook Franschhoek. Here Feng Shui philosophy meets friendly hospitality in breathtaking surroundings. The accommodation consists of 22 luxurious individually decorated suites with original artworks, a walk-in-shower and oversized bath. For relaxation there is the thoughtful service and pampering treatments at their newly renovated Spa.

2 nights at the Montrachalle on a bed and breakfast basis

A lunch and wine tasting session with a visit to The Huguenot Museum will be arranged for you. For those who prefer golf this can be booked for the afternoon at Pearl Valley. Dinner will be reserved at the world famous restaurant “Reubens”.

Day Eight

After breakfast drive 20 minutes to the prestigious Pearl Valley golf course, a Jack Nicklaus design which opened in 2003. Situated between the Paarl mountain range and the Berg River, its semi-links-style blends effortlessly with the natural fynbos of the region. It caters for all levels of golfers, but its many bunkers demands top class approach shots.

The excellence of all the holes makes a difficult decision as to its signature hole. There are two outstanding similarly visually attractive and challenging holes, the seventh and eight which are built around a large dam.

Day Nine

On your final morning you have the choice of a final round of golf at Pearl Valley or a chance to explore the winelands region around Franschhoek. In the late afternoon it will be time to drive to Cape Town airport and your flight back to London

Day Ten
