5 nights Beverley Hills Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis

Day Three

A short drive north of Umhlanga is the town of Stanger and the picturesque Princes Grant Golf Course. A mid morning round of golf has been booked. This is a roller-coaster course through the hills and valleys of a former sugar cane estate.  Its open, rugged appearance gives it almost a links look in places. Rated in the top 25 golf courses in South Africa this is the perfect introduction to golf in Natal.

Four

After breakfast make the short 15 minute journey to the Durban Country Club which has hosted the South African Open more times than any other course. This naturally undulating course built in high dunes by the sea is narrow and demanding. The opening stretch of five holes is as good as any in the world.

The Signature hole, the 3rd is considered one of the best par 5’s, played from a high tee to a narrow stretch of fairway framed by a large, deep bunker that eats into the left side. This is a  stern test of golf which will need you to have your patience and wits about you. The afternoon will be free for a trip into Durban, shopping or just relaxing by the pool back at the hotel.

Day Five

A late morning round of golf will be arranged at the Tom Weiskopf designed Zimbali Golf course situated just 20 minutes north of your hotel. A tough test, but a beautiful one with some spectacular and challenging holes. The first eleven holes have been built on rolling, open land, and the final seven holes take you into the Zimbali Coastal Forest with hilly climbs between holes.

Day Six

Today you have a free morning to relax, try another sport or explore the surrounding countryside. In the afternoon you will return to the  Durban Country Club and see if on the second attempt you can tame this famous course.

Day Seven

After breakfast, depart Beverley Hills Hotel and travel to Lynton Hall which is located on the South Natal coast less than an hour from Durban.  Lynton Hall is a comfortable five-star Country Estate set in 65 hectares.  Apart from fine cuisine, the hotel offers walks in its beautiful gardens and forest, deep-sea diving, tennis or have a relaxing massage by the pool.

2 nights Lynton Hall on a bed and breakfast

The first afternoon has been set aside for either some golf practice or 9 holes on the adjacent golf course.

Day Eight

This morning you will travel south to the spectacular Wild Coast Sun golf course rated in the top ten in the country. This rugged course climbs and descends through ravines and across waterfalls, giving spectacular views of the countryside and the Indian Ocean. Relatively easy to conquer on a calm day it can be a brute in a strong wind - sounds familiar! The 13th, the signature par 3, will test your resolve. Your tee shot must carry a ravine with the green mainly hidden by bush and rocks.

Day Nine

On your last day drive to San Lameer back down the coast near Southbroom.  Narrow and subject to many gradients, this is a true thinking-man’s golf course where it is vital to keep the ball in play.  It has a tropical looking layout famous for its numerous water hazards, palm trees and indigenous bush.

After your golf and a quick bite you will need to drive back to Durban airport for your flight to Johannesburg and London.

Day Ten
