Chief’s Island, Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Okavango Delta, Botswana
A luxury wilderness retreat where no effort has been spared to ensure a once-in-a lifetime experience tailor-made to each guest
Mombo Camp, situated on Chiefs Island in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta - a wetland paradise surrounded by palm-fringed islands and lily scattered floodplains. This private concession is bursting with exceptional wildlife and offers supreme Big 5 game viewing throughout the year.
Mombo is a masterpiece of architectural design and was crafted to create a camp that exudes elegance with its understated yet luxurious 9 canvas tents… which have seemingly adorned the Delta shores since the beginning of time. Each tent features a long veranda, indoor and outdoor showers, king-sized bed and reclining deck chairs on a private sala for casual game viewing. The attention to detail is second to none with the locally hand-crafted furniture and freshly polished mahogany floor illustrating the true soul of the camp.
Cuisine at Mombo is one of the camps fortes… from fresh tuna Carpaccio to exotic chilli squid. Every dish is a feast for the eye and palette, created with care by the talented and passionate chef and cooks. Enjoy this world-class food around the vast eucalyptus carved table in the dining room, in the boma or decking area where al fresco meals are served beneath a canopy of shimmering stars.
The game viewing experience commences on the deck of your tent as a variety of species stroll past the camp. To continue the adventure, guests explore the Delta with expert guides on twice daily game drives… into the mosaic of savannah and floodplain that is Chief’s Island. You can track stalking lion, spot slinking leopard and gaze in awe at a vast concentration of antelope and zebra on the plains. This is truly is: The Place of Plenty.
The WOW factor:
Arguably the finest big game viewing in all of Africa
Abundant hunting ground for large prides of lion and star-struck leopard
