Best African Airline for South African Airways
South African Airways has once again scooped the ‘Best African Airline’ Award at the Business Traveller Awards 2015. This is the ninth consecutive year that SAA has won the accolade, adding to a line-up of awards the airline received this year including a 4-Star Airline Skytrax ranking for the 13th year in a row.
Since moving in June 2014 to the new Queen’s Terminal 2 at London Heathrow International Airport, SAA has continued its commitment to quality service, particularly by exceeded punctuality targets for outgoing flights. From April to September 2015, SAA maintained an on-time performance (OTP) exceeding 92% out of Heathrow. Receiving the 2015 Business Traveller Award for ‘Best African Airline’ further cement’s the airline’s growing reputation.
The Business Traveller Awards, which were hosted by English writer, broadcaster, actor Gyles Brandreth at London’s Royal Garden Hotel this week, are voted for by readers of the magazine and are designed to reward products and services that the reader’s themselves value. Widely regarded as the market’s benchmark for excellence, South Africa’s national carrier beat stiff competition from Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and EgyptAir.
In addition to this accolade, SAA has been awarded the Conde Nast Traveller's 2nd Best Legroom of an airline on long haul flights in the WORLD! Yep it's 33.5 inches, only beaten by Aero Mexico at 34 inches of legroom. We think this is pretty impressive.
