BEACH

Our Top Lodges

Tanzania

Our lodges offer diverse scenery, traditional style accommodation and are particularly famous for their fresh fish. Ras Kutani set on the mainland is similar to Vamizi in that it prides itself on an atmosphere of complete tranquillity. In contrast Chloe Mjini offers tree house accommodation and some unique activities whist Mnemba is most notable for its opulent luxury.

Ras Kutani, 35 kilometres south of the port of Dar es Salaam, with its long stretches of undeveloped pristine beaches, fresh water lagoon, coastal forest and turquoise sea offers an idyllic hideaway. Accomodation in the thirteen spacious and charming cottages is very private and understated. Here you can snorkel, kayak on the lagoon, or just have a massage and let yourself be spoilt in the beautiful surroundings.
Mnemba Island Lodge is a private island off the north east coast of Zanzibar. At Mnemba you can enjoy an exclusive paradise in one of the 10 rustic palm-frond bandas nestled in a tropical forest fringed by a white coral sand beach. There are a range of activities such as diving, kayaking, windsurfing and fly fishing. Not to mention sightings of humpback whales, dolphin, whale sharks, green turtles and other unusual species of coral reef fish that live in these tropical waters. Nothing is too much trouble and the attentive, personal and faultless service is synonymous with Mnemba.
Chole Mjini is made up of six tree-houses on stilts, high up in baobab trees, and one large suite at ground level. Each has its own bathroom, reached by steps at the base of the trees, with romantic, open-air (hot) showers. The one house on the ground has an en suite bathroom, with the only flushing loo on the island. There is also a 'floating suite' on a dhow, for a unique ‘sleep-over' experience. Activities include sailing trips, snorkelling and fishing, forest walks and exploring various ruins. There is no promise of decadent luxury here, but that is what makes this truly remote island lodge so special.

Fundu Lagoon is a remote and peaceful resort, only accessible by boat.  Set on a beautiful beach in the south west of Pemba Island, it is privately owned and run with a love for the natural environment that surrounds it;  the epitome of shabby chic – stylish, cosseting and totally relaxed.  Wooden walkways and sandy paths lead to sixteen Makuti thatched tented rooms and suites – all accommodation is spacious and private with breath-taking ocean views.  The main areas are open sided with thatch roofing.  There are three bars, an excellent restaurant and a beautiful infinity pool and ‘calming’ spa.
