PRIVATE HOUSES OF AFRICA

Safari Houses

Jembisa – The Waterbergs
Jembisa is a safari lodge within its own private game reserve in the heart of Waterbergs in the northern Limpopo Province of South Africa.

Built originally as a family home, Jembisa has a wonderful atmosphere of relaxation and comfort. The lodge is built from local stone and thatch with large, spacious rooms decorated in an Afro-colonial style. There are 5 luxury en-suite bedrooms, 3 with private balconies and a single / children’s bunk room. Having been a family home, Jembisa benefits from some extras not usually found at safari lodges, for example a games room, library, a natural saltwater pool and a tennis court.

Game drives are in an open landrover with a highly trained and experienced ranger. Night drives provide the opportunity of seeing the nocturnal animals such as leopard, brown hyena, aardvark, civets and porcupines. There is an option of camping out for a night under canvas, getting closer to nature and waking with the African dawn.

Tintswalo Manor House – Kruger National Park
Tintswalo Manor House is situated in a private concession within the Manyeleti, one of the least known but most prolific safari areas in the heart of South Africa’s famous  Kruger National Park. Within this stunning thatched manor house are four luxury en-suite air-conditioned bedrooms and one optional children’s room, which overlook a water hole that often welcomes thirsty visitors of all kinds. The Manor boosts a crystal blue swimming pool, traditional boma area and deep shaded patio. Complete privacy and personal attention is brought to you with your private game vehicle, ranger and tracker as well as your personal chef which allows you to enjoy the Kruger however and whenever suits you. Activities range from game viewing in open landrovers or on foot, bird walks and relaxation in the indulgent spa at Tintswalo Lodge.  This intimate homely setting is ideal for small groups and families.

Tswalu – Northern Cape
Tswalu Kalahari Reserve is the largest privately-owned game reserve in South Africa.  The emphasis at Tswalu is on exclusivity, which is why the entire reserve can accommodate no more than 30 people at a time. Tarkuni is a separate African dwelling that is ideal for a small party of eight with four superb bedrooms and en suite bathrooms. This is the ultimate in luxury game reserve accommodation with its unparalleled exclusivity and personal service. Tarkuni's surroundings are elegantly simple with a luxury swimming pool opening to the remarkable sight of animals drinking at a nearby watering hole.

As a conservation area of 100 000 hectares, the reserve makes an important contribution to nature by restoring the natural environment to its original condition and successfully reintroducing predators such as lion and cheetah.
